Market Signal: storage leads PJM's first reformed queue

Storage led PJM Interconnection's first reformed-queue cycle with 314 projects and 60GW.

PJM Interconnection closed its first reformed-queue cycle with storage in front: 314 projects and 60GW, ahead of every resource but gas. In total 715 projects and more than 200GW qualified for study, with no remaining backlog from prior queues.

The signal The bottleneck has moved. Interconnection speed used to be gated by queue position. Under first-ready, first-served it is gated by whether a developer can clear the readiness bar before filing, which rewards capital, site control, and a day-one build plan.

Hiring Readiness is a staffing problem first. Development Managers, Interconnection Specialists who know the PJM study process, and Project Finance Leads who commit deposits against a viable pipeline move projects forward.
