Market Signal: storage as the price of interconnection

Crusoe and ON.energy will deploy 5GW of battery-based UPS across hyperscale campuses in ERCOT.

Crusoe committed to 5GW of medium-voltage, battery-based uninterruptible power systems with ON.energy across its hyperscale campuses, commissioning from 2026 into 2027. The units buffer GPU load swings and ride through voltage faults, meeting ERCOT rules for loads of 75MW or more.

The signal Storage hardware is becoming the price of admission for large-load interconnection. A developer is buying battery-based power electronics to satisfy grid rules that are still being written.

Hiring Commissioning 5GW of UPS through 2027 pulls Power Electronics Engineers, Commissioning Managers, and Grid Integration Leads into the storage and hyperscale intersection, where neither industry has bench depth.
