LG Energy Solution and Tesla confirmed a $4.3 billion supply agreement to build a lithium iron phosphate battery cell plant in Lansing, Michigan, carrying 50GWh of annual production capacity and 1,700 manufacturing jobs from 2027, on a three-year term through 2030 with options to extend.

The signal Domestic BESS manufacturing is shifting from theory to execution. American-made cells will power Tesla Megapack 3 systems produced in Houston, cutting reliance on Chinese battery imports as tariffs and FEOC restrictions tighten.
