Market Signal: 4GW in Arizona is an execution problem

Salt River Project and NextEra will build 3GW of solar and 1GW of storage across Arizona through 2027.

Salt River Project has landed one of the largest single-utility solar-plus-storage procurements in US history: 3GW of solar and 1GW of battery storage, built by NextEra Energy Resources across Arizona through 2027, part of a strategy to retire coal generation by 2032.

The signal A 4GW concentrated buildout in a single state on a three-year window is not a development problem. It is an execution problem. The constraints compound: interconnection queues, EPC capacity, BESS supply chain lead times, and a regional labor pool already under pressure.

Hiring Procurements at this scale create immediate demand for Development Managers running parallel sites, Interconnection Specialists with WECC and Salt River Project transmission experience, and construction and commissioning leaders who can lock in EPC partnerships early.
