ContourGlobal broke ground on October 6 on Project Sterling in Mohave County, Arizona: 450 MWac of solar paired with a 360 MW / 1.4 GWh battery. Tesla takes about 90% of the output under a long-term power purchase agreement covering roughly 1 TWh a year, with commercial operation targeted for 2028.

Clearway Energy Group has signed long-term contracts with PacifiCorp for another 210 MW of storage at its Honeycomb Energy Center in southern Utah, financing the roughly $400 million phase with KeyBank, U.S. Bank, NORD/LB, and CoBank. Its listed affiliate, Clearway Energy, has agreed to buy the three projects for about $119 million once they are operating.

PJM Interconnection accepted the first three projects through its new Expedited Interconnection Track on October 8: two ENGIE batteries, 860 MW at Wayne in Pennsylvania and 800 MW at Galion in Ohio, plus a 455 MW upgrade at the Hunterstown gas plant held by LS Power. All three are due online in mid-2029.
