BESS Weekly: a fuel depot becomes a Bronx battery

NineDot Energy has energized the 20 MW Hunts Point BESS in the Bronx, built with Tesla batteries on a former fuel oil trucking site and sized to cover nearly 20,000 homes at peak. NineDot now runs 11 projects totaling 39 MW across Staten Island and the Bronx, the largest fleet in Con Edison's New York City territory.

NYSERDA has awarded its first Index Storage Credit contracts: eight lithium-ion projects totaling 950 MW / 4,360 MWh, selected from 46 bids and due online by the end of 2030. Flatiron Energy, Key Capture Energy, and GCI each took two awards, with Savion and Zenobe taking one apiece.

Linea Energy has closed project debt and a preferred equity commitment for its 250 MW / 500 MWh Mesa View BESS in Upton County, Texas. NORD/LB led a construction-to-term loan, tax equity bridge, and letter of credit facility, with Texas Capital in the syndicate and DESRI providing the preferred equity, for a 2027 commercial operation date into ERCOT.
