Market Signal: storage gets priced on contracted revenue

Jupiter Power announced $1.4 billion across 10 projects and GridStor closed $220 million, both priced on contracted storage revenue.

Jupiter Power announced $1.4 billion across 10 projects in Texas and Michigan on September 16, 1,500MW and 3,600MWh in total, including a $281 million private placement rated BBB- by KBRA and secured on three operating batteries. GridStor closed $220 million on White Tank in Arizona five days later.

The signal A long-dated utility toll and rated notes on operating assets are two routes to the same underwriting. Both price storage on contracted revenue. In August we flagged three developers raising corporate capital, and that capital has now reached the project layer with covenants attached.

Hiring Contracted revenue changes what a platform has to staff after financial close. Asset Managers running tolled fleets to availability terms, Commercial Contract Managers administering 20-year offtake, and Finance Leaders who can carry rated-debt reporting are the roles that move first.
