US grid batteries hit a record 6.7GW and 20.2GWh in Q2, one tenth of every grid battery ever installed.
Solar Energy Industries Association put Q2 grid battery installations at 6.7GW and 20.2GWh with Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, the largest quarter on record. Utility-scale accounted for 17.9GWh of that, across seven individual projects of 1,000MWh or more, and the 2030 outlook rose 11.5% to 683GWh.
The signal Seven projects at gigawatt-hour scale energized inside 13 weeks is a different problem from seven reaching financial close. Development pipelines have been full for years. What changed is throughput at the back end.
Hiring Demand concentrates on Commissioning Managers and Startup Engineers who have taken a 1GWh site from mechanical completion to dispatch, and Construction Leads who can run parallel sites. More than half of new utility-scale capacity was standalone, which changes who runs the asset.
