PJM called on large users to curb demand during this week's heat wave, as a new report warned of a looming 2030 reliability crisis, with data center load growth continuing to outpace the grid's ability to keep up.

The House passed the bipartisan Ratepayer Protection Act 417-3, aimed at stopping data centers from shifting grid costs onto other customers, while the EPA finalized its repeal of power plant emissions rules.

BloombergNEF projected that US data centers will burn more natural gas by 2035 than nearly every country on earth besides China, Russia, Iran and the US itself, while a separate BNEF analysis warned new restrictions on Chinese-made grid equipment will hit battery storage hardest of all.
